It seems all the money in the world fulfils only the quantitative need

Success means different things to different people. To the vast majority success means certain affordances such as a car, a house, fancy clothes, electronic goods etc. This is how the god-men want the world to be. Money rules minds. Money is now the measure of all things. It seems to solve all human problems by silencing both the humans and the problem alike. If Mr. A desires something of Mr. B it gives Mr. B an excellent opportunity to control, exploit and dominate Mr. A. This is how the modern world works. In most parts of the world today one’s worth is directly proportional to the amount of money in one’s bank account. A high amount means high net worth and vice versa.

So is ordinary life worth anything at all? When a man with a fat bank account suddenly falls sick and dies, is the dead man still worth anything? Biblical literature says: “What shall it profit a man when he gains the whole world and loses his soul.” Although money can give an incredibly comfortable life, certain facts still remain. Money cannot fulfil such human needs as genuine sense of security, lasting happiness and love and faithfulness. Such things only come from being unfailingly moral and honest. The more money one has the more untrustworthy friends one would have. I personally believe, by observing people in my society, that the aggresive persuit of money generally reduces a person’s quality of life.

Thoreau says wealth is the ability to experience life in full and that’s correct but wealth can also cause anxiety and sleepless nights. One’s wealth can advance one’s intentions but only quantitatively – meaning one can use money to get more money or acquire more properties but the conversion to genuine human value system such as trust, which is qualitative, is not that easy. One cannot buy genuine trust and respect. The trust and respect one gets as a result of money is shallow and breaks down easily. The worst part of all this is that what the average person calls ‘success’ is normally the destruction of or the grafting of one part of the soul to build upon the other. As a result there is often a painful story behind every material success. I wish all my readers wealth and happiness but I hope everyone puts health and family first. Happy sunday!

Visitor

1.

And when death knocks on their door

Then do they run to the poet whom they despiseth

And say, trembling: “Poet, we have a visitor!

Death knocketh on our doors with his handcuffs

And as yet have we not enjoyed life enough,

2.

Will thou allow him to drag our souls away?

Will thou allow him to drag us into the underworld?”

Then will poet sit on a rock and speak thus:

“I cometh and speaketh to you about death everyday.

How it sneaketh in the night and enters thy room

3.

And draggeth thee to the underworld.

But thou despiseth me and mocketh me.

Thou did not listen. Neither did thou say, yes!

Poet, we have heard thy sermon and we shall put our

Modest houses in order before death comes.” None

4.

Paid any attention and now must the poet fight death

For thee? Poet is mortal too. Poet wrestleth death but

He winneth not. For this reason does poet admonish

Thee to prepare thyselves for death’s unannounced visit.

For death’s entrance and life’s exit are but same door.

Reconstructing My Consciousness

Everyone stumbles through many illusions on his or her way from childhood to adulthood. Illusions commend themselves to us because they afford us enjoyment but the greater the illusion the greater the pain when we eventually and inevitably collide with a bit of reality. The job of the mind, as I would understand it, is to help us survive and thrive until the finishing line, by differentiating between reality and illusion and making decisions based on the former against the backdrop of personal priorities. So congratulations to whoever made it into adulthood. It means, likely with the help of parents, you have done away with many illusions. Reality is inseparable from nature. No two people are exactly the same, which means there are probably more than seven billion personality types in the world.

But then another challenge emerges and that is: the mind is not a homogeneous mass of thoughts and feelings. For the most part, it is filled with confusion arising out of incongruent ideas. Ideas or thoughts, the stuff with which we build bridges from the unconscous to the conscious. Whoever lacks that lags. All true spirituality aims at the harmonization of thoughts and emotions, something Nietzsche will call “the spiritualization of the emotions.” This is essential for healing, spiritual growth and happiness. Ultimately one’s world reflects one’s mindset. And it is within the intellect not the emotions that the true battle rages.

The deception which every society feeds it young generation is the root cause of all forms of human deterioration – violence, rape, drug abuse, dereliction, criminality and terrorism etc. Many children never recover from those lies. When compelled by circumstances they find substitute lies because those lies inflate and caress the ego. And so everything snowballs into some soggy mass of deception. Chief among these hoaxes is organized popular religion. It’s a multi-billion dollar industry in Africa. They only need to create two conditions – fear and ignorance. As one may already be aware the Chinese have also settled in. They are in good business with Africa which many have even been described as a “love affair.” But Africa itself is still not yet on its feet and I hope they don’t introduce Buddha or Confucious to her.

I weep for the youth in particular because they bear the brunt of whatever happens as leadership continuous to fail in Africa. By reconstructing my consciousness, I have been able to at least make sense of my world and my existence. It’s a good exercise which must be conducted frequently by all who believe their consciousness needs reparation.

All progress in the ego gradually eliminates the individual from his herd

By ‘progress’ I mean advancement, growth, strengthening etc. This ego which in common language is referred to as ‘the self’ has a very short existence. In fact the very sojourness of our world is the ego metaphorised. The contents of the ego is lost at death. Not a single thought, idea or belief within the ego is passed to one’s offspring. Most individuals with high thinking enter the herd only to dominate or exploit it. Often this fails and the individual is alienated or he alienates himself. Nothing is as repugnant to the herd as selfishness but, then again it depends on inherent thought patterns within the herd. Here again, by ‘herd’ I mean an animal, tribal, communal or societal unit.

The elimination of logic by the herd leaves us with only emotion. The question arises: ‘Can truth come to us through emotion? In other words can there be truth without logic? Within the herd, and supposing that the emotions are in their proper frameworks, then yes! In fact the most discernable truth within and between members of the herd is emotional or instinctive truth. But what we mean by ‘truth’ is too much subjected to arguments. There is correct or incorrect logic but no true logic nor moral logic. This is because logic is a figment of the psychic tree. At the root is the instincts which every living organism identifies with symbolically and which is responsible for herd formation.

The real value of the instincts is in its ability to carry out repetitive instructions from the psyche without getting exhausted. This is where what we call love emanates from. Any form of attraction that seem logical and reasonable (based clearly on external material needs and fulfilment) will quickly lose energy and passion because needs change over time. Love, which requires repetitive actions can only be sustained at the roots, within the emotions, therefore strong bonds occur at an emotional level and it’s supplemented by reason. I’m not sure I’m making sense but I think only emotional discernment can offer us satisfactory answers in our search for the purpose of life.

Africa, my Africa

We want to go and
See what’s happening
In the underworld.
Perhaps the gods and
Ancestors know why.
We ran and ran and
When our feet refused to
Go, we saw that we were
Back in whitey’s chains –
In the oppressor’s talons.
Africa cries for a liberator.
How can her children go
Hungry when she has
Fertile land? How can she
Be poor when she has gold?
Nkrumah said revolutionary
Path will bring freedom but
Who will fight for us?
No one wanted to fight.
Whitey’s dollar is working.
Lumumba is gone.
Sankara is gone.
Madiba is gone.
Nyerere is gone.
Kenyatta is also gone.
And so is great Nkrumah.
Heroes die soon and
The clowns live long.
But Africa, my Africa is not
What is shown the world.
My Africa will rise…again.

Volitive selflessness

Volitive selflessness, I think that’s the definition of love. I may be wrong. But considering that most people are born narcissists, to love another person then requires a detachment from oneself. It involves a lot of effort on both parts. To be completely detached from oneself and to be attached to another human, then, is the goal of love, consequence notwithstanding. When two people decide to truly love each other their universe appears bigger, their experience of life lasts longer, their pain is less severe because it’s shared and most importantly their joy is frequent because there are multiple sources. This is possible only when two souls are sharing a single ‘self.’

Is nature self animated?

When stepped on in front, an earthworm tries to change direction of movement. When stepped on at the rear it immediately speeds up.That way it mitigates the probability of being stepped on again (Nietzsche). Do earth worms have a scientifically observable brain? What about fairy flies and sugar ants who display remarkable intelligence. Many atheists believe that living organisms are self animated – life just happened by accident and organisms simply act by instinct and this instinct according to Dawkins works so well in creating a gene pool from where sometimes reparations are made to the cistron of the organism.

Most birds are born knowing how to fly and build nests. Do you not think that they were endowed with this knowledge by some higher being who made them? Why of all the things that can be instinctively known like burrowing and slithering they didn’t acquire that irrelevant knowledge but rather they knew just the right thing – how to fly and build nests. Different organisms living in the same habitat often acquire distinct characteristics so the environment cannot be the sole determinant of form and physiology. If nature is self animated and works by blind chance (without intelligent design) then something should have gone wrong with instinctive knowing or we shouldn’t have such wonderful symbiosis in the universe. I have never seen self-animated stones or rocks walking on two feet?

I’m aware science has completely eroded age old superstitions and I’m thankful for that. Nonetheless, evolutionary biologists have consistently pounded into our ears, the theory that all living organisms evolved into their current form from a common ancestor. They have not provided sufficient evidence of the existence of this common ancestor neither have they provided sufficient evidence for the transitional forms leading to man. Their strongest evidence of the precise anatomical links between man and ape, or fish and bird is nothing but an artist’s impression. Anybody could make an impression of God and present it as evidence of existence of God. How about that? The many frauds in evolution point to the fact that evolutionary theory is a deliberate scam and probably the biggest deception of humanity. I can’t help but laugh whenever they claim to have made a discovery of the so called missing link – which I believe was their own creation, they even give it a fanciful name as if it were a new born baby. No one has seen God, likewise no one has seen one organism transform into another. So let everyone believe whatever makes meaning to him or her – whether transcendental or empirical. Though I can’t put faith above science, I think the scientific method has certain inherent flaws in so far as it rigidly limits itself to the immediately observable world and rejects intuition.

“Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD….” — Psalm 150:6

What is normality?

I have been wanting to ask this question as far back as last year but couldn’t really find a way to frame it well. What is ‘normality’?

Supposed that one wakes up tomorrow and saw that everybody was walking about completely naked – even at school or at work. In fact every social gathering is filled with people in the nude. What will be one’s reaction? One will likely immediately feel embarrassed for fully dressing, go back home or to the washroom, undress and come back in order to fit in. Same will apply to whether one woke up and saw people walking backwards. Thus the question arises, is something normal because it’s commonplace or is it normal because it’s appropriate or right to do?

Would you steal, accept bribes or commit adultery simply because it is common place in society or would you rather refuse to do these things because refusal is right? The pressure in society, to conform, is strong and can be reflected even in the kind of traditions or laws in place. But the reward of doing the right thing is superior and far reaching and ultimately good for yourself even if it means being labeled abnormal. Happy Sunday!
